We’re closing in on the opening tip of the 2023-24 NBA regular season, with high hopes surrounding the Arizona sports betting championship prospects for Phoenix.
Fresh off trades that landing the franchise superstar guard Bradley Beal and 2014 first-round pick Jusuf Nurkic, the Suns are looking to get back on track, win total wise, after failing to clear their preseason figure in 2022.
At the moment, the Suns’ 2023-24 win total sits at 52.5 at Arizona sportsbook apps, with Phoenix looking to get off to a solid start when it plays Golden State on Oct. 24 in San Francisco in the regular season opener. BetArizona utilized historical data from SportsOddsHistory.com to see how the Suns have done against their preseason win total dating back to 2010-11. Win totals for the 2019-20 season were not included due to the shortened season.
Suns Season Win Total History
BetMGM Arizona lists the Suns at +650 to win the NBA title, the fourth-best in the league. Boston and Milwaukee are tied for first at +400, followed by defending champion Denver at +550.
Suns Trying to Match Expectations
Since 2010, Phoenix has cleared their preseason win total four times, while failing to do so in eight seasons, including last year’s minus-7.5 win total figure under coach Monty Williams. Prior to that, the Suns cleared the preseason win total in 2020-21 (38.5) and 2021-22 (51.5), snapping the club’s five-year stretch of win total unders.
Oddsmakers at Caesars Sportsbook Arizona have the Suns’ regular season opener as a pick-em against the Warriors, with an over/under of 232.5 points. If Phoenix can start on a strong note in late October games against the L.A. Lakers (in L.A. on Oct. 26), Utah (at home on Oct. 28) and San Antonio (at home on Halloween night), the Suns will be on solid footing to finish on the right side of their preseason win total.
First-year coach Frank Vogel will look to use those early season showdowns as a way to build his team’s confidence, as Phoenix looks to rebound after a second-round playoff loss to Denver.
