The 2024 Cup Series title race has already been perhaps the craziest and most controversial edition of the NASCAR playoff since the series adopted the season-ending format two decades ago.
Now it all comes down to Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Championship race at Phoenix Raceway, a 1-mile oval in Avondale that has decided the champion in stock car racing’s premier circuit since 2020.
Arizona sports betting has the odds set for Sunday’s race (1 p.m. local time, NBC). Let’s look at how the four drivers eligible for the title – defending series champion Ryan Blaney, two-time champ Joey Logano, William Byron and Tyler Reddick – line up according to the oddsmakers:
NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race Odds
Driver | Odds To Win | Top 3 Odds |
Ryan Blaney* | +400 | -115 |
Christopher Bell | +500 | +130 |
William Byron* | +600 | +140 |
Joey Logano* | +650 | +190 |
Tyler Reddick* | +750 | +200 |
Drivers eligible for the championship are denoted with an asterisk (*) in these odds. These odds are according to DraftKings Arizona Sportsbook as of Nov. 5.
Christopher Bell, who did not make the Championship 4 (more on that later) is the only driver outside of the four title-eligible drivers who is in the top five at DraftKings to win Sunday’s race. He’s at +500 odds.
Ryan Blaney is favored at +400 to win the race and earn his second consecutive series championship. His teammate at Penske, Logano, is fourth on the board; he is looking to become a three-time series king, having won the title in 2018 and 2022. Byron, of Hendrick Motorsports, and 23XI Racing driver Reddick are both looking for their first Cup Series championship.
There are plenty of prop bets, including top-3 finish, available at operators offering Arizona sportsbook promo codes. Here is a closer look at how each of the four championship-eligible drivers stack up as far as career accomplishments in the Cup Series at Phoenix Raceway:
Ryan Blaney At Phoenix Raceway Career Stats
Races | Wins | Top 5s | Top 10s |
17 | 0 | 8 | 12 |
Blaney was second in last year’s NASCAR finale, but that was good enough to capture the title while non-championship driver Ross Chastain won the race. Blaney only led two laps at Phoenix last November but he held off fellow title contenders Kyle Larson, who finished third, and Byron, who came in fourth. Though Blaney has not won at the 1-mile oval, he has been a consistent contender with three runnerup finishes. Plus he owns three pole positions there. At BetMGM Arizona Sportsbook, Blaney has +175 odds to win another championship, making him the favorite.
Joey Logano At Phoenix Raceway Career Stats
Races | Wins | Top 5s | Top 10s |
31 | 3 | 8 | 16 |
Logano, a 16-year Cup Series veteran, has the most experience at this track among the title contenders. He won the November race at Phoenix in 2016 and 2022, with the latter clinching his second championship. He also won the 2020 spring race in Arizona, the last race before the series went on hiatus for more than two months during the peak of COVID-19. In this year’s spring race, a crash eliminated Logano and he finished 34th. At Caesars Arizona Sportsbook, Logano has +220 odds to finish as the best Ford driver, behind only teammate Blaney (-160).
William Byron At Phoenix Raceway Career Stats
Races | Wins | Top 5s | Top 10s |
13 | 1 | 2 | 7 |
Byron also went into last year’s finale in title contention and led 95 laps, but he finished fourth. His lone win at Phoenix came in the 2023 spring race, where he led 64 laps. Byron needed a controversial NASCAR ruling to make the finale with a chance to win the title, as Christopher Bell was penalized on the final lap of last weekend’s race at Martinsville for riding the wall to gain a position. If not for Bell’s penalty, he would have made the Championship 4 instead of Byron. The bet365 Arizona Sportsbook has Byron at +120 odds to be the top Chevrolet driver, making him the favorite in that category.
Tyler Reddick At Phoenix Raceway Career Stats
Races | Wins | Top 5s | Top 10s |
9 | 0 | 2 | 3 |
This is the first time Reddick has reached the season finale with a shot to win the championship. His average finish of 17.9 is the lowest of the four title contenders, but six of those starts came at Richard Childress Racing during a time when that team was mostly struggling. Reddick has two third-place finishes at Phoenix and he has also run 10th, but it’s worth noting that all of those runs came in the spring race. His best finish at the November event was 19th, in 2020 and 2021. FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona lists him at +280 odds for the title.
