The Major League Baseball season, which starts Thursday for most teams, runs 162 games over the course of six months. So, it would stand to reason that games taking place in July are every bit as important as those this week and in the final week of September.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have shown themselves to be the best team money can buy in recent years at Arizona sportsbooks. They’ve made the postseason every year since 2013 and have not had a losing season since 2010 – and that was an 80-82 campaign. You have to go back 20 years to find a 90-loss team based out of Chavez Ravine.
San Diego has made the postseason in two out of the last three seasons, and the one year the Padres missed was in 2023, the one where the Diamondbacks reached the World Series. Arizona started that season 16-13.
The D’backs actually posted a better record last season, 89-73, compared to the 2023 team’s 84-78 mark. However, Torey Lovullo’s team started last season 14-17 and played under .500 ball during the first two months. Arizona ended May 10 games back of the Dodgers, and the Diamondbacks only made up one game in the standings over the final four months.
The Diamondbacks were among the teams that made moves to boost their team in the offseason. Chief among them were the signing of free agent ace Corbin Burnes and the acquisition of slugging first baseman Josh Naylor.
Oddsmakers at bet365 Arizona Sportsbook believe the Dodgers will win the NL West for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons. LA’s odds are -700 to win the division, and the D’backs and the Padres are the co-second choice at +850.
That doesn’t mean Arizona should be considered a longshot to make the postseason this fall. DraftKings sets the Diamondbacks odds to earn a playoff spot at -125.
