The Arizona Cardinals playoff chances faded over the course of last season due to a variety of reasons, including a difficult second-half schedule. But as the team looks to improve ahead of next season, an easy way to do so is to avoid penalties - and in effect - fines.
Using data from Spotrac.com, BetArizona.com examined Arizona Cardinals player fines from last season. We then identified the player with the highest total and calculated what they could have purchased with that money.
Rank | Player | Total Fines |
1 | Joey Blount | $22,355 |
2 | Kyzir White | $16,883 |
3 | Sean Murphy-Bunting | $11,817 |
T-4 | Mack Wilson | $11,255 |
T-4 | Zach Pascal | $11,255 |
6 | DeeJay Dallas | $11,102 |
7 | Trey McBride | $9,545 |
8 | Dadrion Taylor-Demerson | $5,592 |
9 | Kei’Trel Clark | $5,373 |
10 | Starling Thomas V | $5,083 |
Cardinals safety Joey Blount this past season took the unfortunate title of most-fined player as a result of two facemask infractions in Week 6 against Green Bay and Week 9 against the Chicago Bears.
Blount, 26 years old out of Virginia, is not typically a penalty maverick, having just been called for 6 flags in his career over three seasons. Unfortunately for him, last year he made a generous donation of over $22,000 to the NFL's headquarters on Park Ave.
Purchase | Total* |
8 Cardinals Seasons Tickets | $20,000 |
Arizona Cardinals Suite (1 game) | $20,000 |
1-yr 1-bdr Rental in Phoenix | $19,200 |
8-nights at The Phoenician Resort | $20,000 |
Here are just a few of the ways Blount could have spent his fine money. For now, he'll enter restricted free agency this offseason and look to land a more lucrative deal that could help cover future infractions.
