Most Undervalued Arizona Diamondbacks On 2025 Roster

After missing out on the postseason a year ago, the Arizona Diamondbacks are back and looking to get back to playing meaningful October baseball, with last year’s 89-win team coming up achingly close but just a bit short in their quest to make the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2001-02.

Chief to that quest is having the team’s youthful core of homegrown talent play up to their potential, with young everyday players like catcher Gabriel Moreno and outfielder Jake McCarthy looking to power the team’s offense, while pitcher Brandon Pfaadt will be counted on to stabilize the team’s rotation.

Looking forward, oddsmakers from DraftKings Arizona currently have their preseason win total over/under set at 86.5, with -125 odds that the D-backs return to the playoffs this fall after missing out by an eyelash last year.

BetArizona.com utilized Fangraphs.com to gather the 2025 salary information and projected 2025 WAR. Once acquiring that information, we divided the salary by the player’s projected WAR to determine the players’ potential value.

Note: Some players’ salaries are represented by their salary before arbitration. Only players projected on the Opening Day 40-Man Roster were included.

Who Will Step Up For Arizona in 2025?

Our top three picks to provide the most bang for their buck in Arizona this MLB season are the three-headed combo of McCarthy, Moreno and Pfaadt, with all three projected to post WAR totals of 1.9 or greater (per baseball-reference.com) on league minimum salaries of $800,000 apiece.

Of the three, Moreno is projected by the site to have the best season, WAR wise, with the fourth year catcher locked into a 4.2 WAR projection in 2025, averaging out to $190,475 of overall value, as determined by salary per WAR.

Pfaadt (2.0 WAR projection/$400,000 salary per WAR) and McCarthy (1.9 WAR projection/$421,053) are next in line when it comes to providing value at rock-bottom prices for Arizona in 2025, though none of the other D-backs mainstays can match Moreno’s value behind the dish.

That’s because the 25-year-old from Venezuela is expected to provide Arizona with unmatched on-field production on his rookie salary, giving the D-backs room to build around, both in 2025 and in the years to come in the Valley.
