Arizona Most Interested In Outdoor Activities

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

Few states across America have the wealth of outdoor activities that the Grand Canyon State does, from the eponymous state park tucked inside the north-central part of the state to the boundless open spaces that can be found from the Mexican border north towards the Four Corners.

Given that bounty of scenery, it’s likely of little surprise that Arizonans rank among those most interested in searching for outdoor-related activities, with the 48th State ranking 10th nationally by our metrics.

June is the “Great Outdoors Month.” BetArizona.com, home to all things Arizona sports betting, wanted to see what states were most excited to go explore the outdoors as we head into the summer. Using Google Trends, we found and ranked states most interested in “outdoors activities,” according to search interest score.

Given the 22 spaces protected by the National Park Service, from Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest and Saguaro National Parks to a number of National Monuments, National Historic Markers, National Recreation Areas and National Historic Parks, it’s of no surprise that Arizonans want to get outside and explore the reaches of their home state.

Luckily for Arizonans, there’s plenty of options for them to choose from, with the Grand Canyon State holding a natural bounty of park space on the state and federal level, leaving residents an open-ended choose your own adventure novel of things to do if they’re looking for ways to escape the summer heat in places like Phoenix and Tucson this summer.
