How Arizona Stacks Up In Terms of Lottery Winners
Arizona’s 14 Powerball winners stands as the ninth most of any state in the country, sandwiched between No. 8 Florida (16) and three states that tied for No. 10, in Kansas, New York and California, who all had 12 winners apiece.
Like Arizona, Kansas and New York have legalized sports betting. Arizona betting apps took in more than $531 million in handle in April.
Nationally, Indiana (39 winners) and Missouri (31) have had the most Powerball winners.
In Arizona, the most recent Powerball winner was a $473.1 million winning ticket that went unclaimed from a QuikTrip location in Gilbert.
The most recent claimed winner in the state was a $60 million jackpot by an anonymous Arizonan on April 1, 2017 at Scenic General Store in Littlefield.
In total, there have been three Powerball winners of at least $100 million apiece in Arizona since 2000, with the most being a $587.5 million haul that Matthew Good won at a Fountain Hills 4 Sons Food Stores location on Nov. 28, 2012.
Regardless of the jackpot amount, Arizonans of all ages likely share a dream of hitting it big in the thrice-weekly Powerball jackpot, joining the 14 others that have done so over the years.
