It appears Arizonans can’t get enough of the car company that named an SUV after the state’s second-largest city.
Korean car company, Hyundai, pulled down the top spot in Arizona when it came to the state’s favorite automobile brand.
BetArizona.com took a break from Arizona sports betting and utilized CarLogos.org’s list of the Top 50 most popular car brands in the United States as a starting point for the research project.
We then utilized Google Trends to search each car brand to see the highest level of interest of each state for the brand. After completing the trends over the past 12 months (from July 25, 2022, to July 25, 2023), we were able to average out the results to get the top car brand for each state.
Favorite Car Brand By State
- Honda (7 states): Alaska, Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina
- Dodge (5 states): Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico
- Ford (4 states): Michigan, Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming
- Audi (4 states): Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York
- Mercedes-Benz (3 states): Florida, Georgia, Virginia

Arizonans Really Like Hyundai Motors
The Grand Canyon State was one of three to pick Hyundai as their car company of choice, alongside Alabama and Illinois.
Overall, the Korean motor company ranked in a tie with Mercedes-Benz, Chevrolet, Mazda, Volkswagen and Buick as the fifth most popular car brand in the country, with each being the No. 1 choice in three states.
The most popular brand nationally was Honda, which was the top pick in seven states, followed by Dodge (five states), and Ford and Audi (four states apiece).
If Arizona betting apps took wagers on such things, you would expect Honda to be one of the favorites.
As for Arizona’s neighbors, Californians searched local brand Tesla more than any other car company, while in Nevada it was BMW, Utah chose Volkswagen, Colorado went with Audi and New Mexico picked Dodge.
