On the heels of a 315-game run in the Valley, nine-time WNBA All-Star forward Brittney Griner parted ways with the Phoenix Mercury, as the veteran out of Baylor tested free agency for the first time..
Griner, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft out of the Waco university, said that her decision to hit the league’s free agency market for the first time stemmed from her experience in the fledgling league, Unrivaled.
"I want to show off my skills for free agency,” Griner said, per ESPN.com, with the two-time league scoring champion hoping she can cash in on her skills in the paint in an increasingly guard-forward WNBA.
Before Griner ultimately signed with the Atlanta Dream, BetArizona.com developed exclusive odds projecting where Griner would end up in what could be a shakeup across Arizona betting apps.
Team | Odds | Percent Chance |
Golden State Valkyries | +300 | 25.0% |
Connecticut Sun | +400 | 20.0% |
Atlanta Dream | +500 | 16.7% |
Las Vegas Aces | +850 | 10.5% |
New York Liberty | +1700 | 5.6% |
The Field/ Stay with Phoenix Mercury | +350 | 22.2% |
Disclaimer: These odds were developed by and are exclusive to BetArizona.com, but regulated operators offering the best Arizona sportsbook promo codes will offer wagers on each WNBA game, plus futures betting and more.
Previously, our favorite to land Griner out of WNBA free agency was the league’s newest team, as the Golden State Valkyries entered the offseason at +300 to land the 34-year-old, while the odds that she signs with another team entirely or returns to Phoenix checked in at +350.
Of the other WNBA teams that could have pursued Griner, we had the Atlanta Dream included on our odds board at +500.
